At VERAL’s in-house R&D laboratory, our team develops and evaluates prototypes according to the specific requirements of each project.
A formula needs to do more than incorporate the right ingredients. It needs to deliver the desired texture, appearance, application, sensory experience and performance, while also being suitable for the intended packaging and manufacturing process.
Through laboratory development, evaluation and refinement, the formulation is progressively optimised until it meets the agreed product specifications.
For many projects, formulation is only one part of the development challenge.
The intended packaging format and filling process can influence how a product needs to be developed. Viscosity, product flow, dispensing behaviour, packaging geometry and filling requirements can all affect how successfully a concept can be translated from the laboratory to production.
This is where VERAL's in-house Technical Department plays a key role.
Our Technical team works closely with R&D, Production and the customer to address demanding packaging and filling requirements and find practical solutions.
Whether a project involves a specific packaging format, challenging filling requirements, an unusual product consistency or a complex dispensing system, the Technical Department works to identify potential challenges and establish a solution that is suitable for production.
Some projects require a particularly close connection between formula, packaging and filling. A product may have a specific viscosity that needs to be adapted to a particular filling process. A packaging concept may require a different dispensing approach. Or a specific product and packaging combination may need to be translated into a workable manufacturing process.
These are the challenges where Veral’s R&D and Technical teams work together.
By combining formulation knowledge with technical expertise in packaging and filling, the teams can evaluate, adapt and optimise solutions before production. This allows technical considerations to be addressed early in the development process, rather than waiting until the product reaches the production line.
The question is therefore not only “Can we formulate it?”, but also “Can we fill it, package it and produce it consistently?”
From Laboratory to Production
Once the formulation and technical solution have been approved, the project moves towards production.
R&D, Technical and Production teams work together to establish the appropriate manufacturing and filling parameters, while Quality ensures that the required specifications and controls are maintained.
The transition from laboratory development to production is treated as one connected process. The objective is to reproduce the approved product consistently at scale while maintaining its intended quality and characteristics.
